DNA or Deoxyribonucleic acid is one of the most complicated molecules know to existence. Discovered by Swiss Biologist Fredrick Miescher in 1869 , DNA is a 6 billion letter code and stores the genetic instructions for everything about you. In each cell there are 46 chromosomes and in each chromosome there is a strand of DNA. IF you were to take all of your DNA and stretch it out it would reach the sun 600 times. Its famous double helix structure (discovered by Rosaline Franklin) is what helps make this chemical so special. It is never found in nature as a single polynucleotide molecule. All in all scientists are not exaggerating when they say DNA is the most celebrated molecule of all time.
